Fixing Adobe™ Flash™ Player Installation issues
Read on to know how to fix Adobe Flash Player installation issues.
Adobe Flash Player is the plug-in for browsers like Internet Explorer as well as Mozilla Firefox. It can allow the browser to activate contents, which are to be displayed on the web browser. These plug-ins are updated on a regular basis as that of other third-party applications. But, it is possible that the Adobe Flash Player may sometimes fail to install. The Adobe Flash Player installation may get terminated meanwhile or you may receive an error message like "You must install a later version of the Macromedia Flash Player". There may be a number of reasons behind the issues. One among these includes the version of the plug-in. Security levels of the browser may also result in the issues. Another reason for this issue is the system overflow with temporary files.
Here are some tips to fix Flash Player fails to install issues:
- Determining version
- Change security level of browser
- Use Uninstaller
You can try checking the version of the already installed flash player in the system. For this, you need to open the Internet Explorer and then select the tools from the 'Tools' menu. In the 'General' tab located in 'Settings' button, select the 'View Objects' button. The 'Shockwave Flash Object' must be displayed at this moment and you need to right-click on the file to select its 'Properties'. In the 'Version' tab, check version number of pre-installed plug-in and the new one match. If you get these matches, then you can be able to install the flash player. If they do not match, use the Flash Player tool to uninstall the plug-in and then re-install it in the browser.
Change security level of browser
The security level of the browser may not allow you to install the Flash Player. You can follow some steps to make the changes to the security level of browser to install the Flash Player. To change the security level, you need to open the browser first. In the 'Tool' menu, select the 'Internet Options' and navigate to 'Security' tab. You may then get the 'Custom Level' option from this tab and then you need to select "ActiveX controls and plug-ins” section and select the "Download Signed ActiveX Controls" and "Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins" prompts. Finally, you need to click the OK button twice to get the option saved. After that, try to install the Flash Player again.
It is possible that you may not be able to install flash player due to administrator privileges. To resolve the issue, you need to check the 'Add or Remove programs' windows to see if the Flash Player is installed or removed. If it is installed, then you need to uninstall it using the new Adobe Uninstaller. You need to then reboot the system and start the installation process again from Adobe.
